Legacy of Laughter:
Comedy Concert Will Include All-Star Tribute
to James Grant Benton

The groundbreaking comedy concert called LOLO NO KA `OI, scheduled for June 28 at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel's Hawaii Ballroom, will go on as planned, despite the untimely death of one of its brightest stars.

James Grant Benton, a founding member of the Booga Booga comedy troupe, had planned to revisit the antics of the legendary troupe with his former partner Ed Ka`ahea for the concert. On May 28 --- just a month before the debut of “Booga Booga: The Viagra Years” at the all-star comedy show --- Benton, only 53, succumbed to a heart attack.

In true show-business tradition, the show will go on. Though they'll each perform solo routines at the comedy concert, Da Braddahs (James Roache and Tony Silva), Augie T, Mel Cabang and Ed Ka`ahea have decided that the show provides a perfect opportunity to celebrate Benton's legacy of laughter. Accordingly, the concert's finale will consist of an all-star tribute to the late comedian. With surprise guests, plenty of laughter, and perhaps a tear or two, the life of James Grant Benton will be lovingly commemorated by his brothers in comedy.

“The finale is still in the planning stages,” said Yemun Chung of Impact Events, which is co-producing the show. “But it's going to be spectacularly hilarious, and filled with surprises.”

“Lolo No Ka Oi” will take place on June 28th in the Hawaii Ballroom at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Show will start promptly at 7:30 PM! Tickets are available for $35, $25, and $18 and may be purchased at any TicketPlus Outlet, including the hotel's Dining Desk; ordered by phone at 526-4400; or online at www.ticketplushawaii.com.
